Thanks to China Grove

China Grove performed at the wedding of Jo Harris at Vauxhall Park Plaza hotel on 8 August and after the event, Jo very kindly wrote to us as follows:

China Grove were absolutely superb – they pitched it perfectly and had everyone up on the dance floor all night. We really couldn’t have asked for a better band to create the party atmosphere that we were after at our wedding. They covered the classics as well as the modern stuff which kept everyone entertained and desperate to dance – plus, they weren’t so loud that the older generation couldn’t sit back, chat and enjoy the show.

The Mix – “the best band yet”

Another busy weekend for CBS Group bands saw Simon Spurr and The Mix performing at The Meyer Williams Charity Ball in aid of Orchid Cancer Care on 19 June in Hertfordshire. The event proved to be a huge success and we are grateful to Stephanie Maffey from Meyer Williams, who emailed as follows:

The band were absolutely brilliant. I have been staging this event for 15 years now and I have to say The Mix were easily the most professional and best band we have had. Their ability to judge the mood of their audience was extraordinary. Please convey our thanks. We raised £9750 for Orchid Cancer Care that night which is amazing and the band ensured we all had a fabulous night.

Starry, Starry Night

We were delighted to once again be invited to organise the Entertainment at Minley Manor for the Officers at Gibralter Barracks. Fusion Disco were invited back for the third time, and with the theme for the Ball being Las Vegas, we could think of no better band than Nigel Smith & the boys & girls from STAR to join Fusion on the stage! It was a beautiful evening at Minley, the guests enjoyed Cocktails on the lawns while our Las Vegas showgirls posed for pictures, before being called to a Sumptous dinner in the Marquee. While they dined Nigel crooned classics from such legends as Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin, wandering amongst the tables, before joining the band back up on stage for more Big Band classics. After dinner the Dogems, Lazershot & Fun Casino entertained the masses & Star performed some of their more modern material before handing over to Fusion who partied with the crowd until daybreak.

LA Tour on Tour

June & July are proving to be exceptionally busy for the guys & gals of LA Tour, kicking off with a trip to the lovely Lancaster London to work alongside the girls from Fusion Disco for the Comms Business Awards 2010 (see pics below) before heading off to Coventry for a Bond Themed Event. Our client James said of the event held at The Mariott Forest of Arden Hotel, “I Couldn’t be more pleased, they were very professional, turned up in good time and nothing was too much trouble, they provided a PA for speeches, CD player for background, assisted the cabaret act & despite the rival attraction of a casino, the dancefloor was busy all evening and packed by the end” , Thank you to James for his kind comments & well done to LA Tour for another job well done!

Madehurst Big Night Out – Line-up is announced

We are delighted to announce the line-up for the 2010 Madehurst Big Night Out! Now in its 4th successive year, the Madehurst Bowl is once again home to this superb open air concert.

Hearsay’s Danny Foster & his band – “The Big Soul Corporation” are headlining the event, supported by Madehurst’s favourite band STAR, including special performances from Nigel Smith, Russian Pop Idol Winner Vadim Azarkh & Singer/Songwriter Katie Holmes! There will also be a disco, special prizes & whole host of other excitement for the whole family to enjoy.

St George’s Day Competition – Winner is annouced

While the country has been gripped with election fever, our customers have been voting in a different campaign altogether! The votes are in and we are delighted to announce that John Catherall of Souled Out wore your favourite St Georges Day Outfit!

We thank everyone who took part in the competition and are delighted to announce that Rebecca Creamer is the Winning Voter. She will be recieving a bottle of the finest English Sparkling Wine which we hope she will enjoy!

Star Party Band – shining for Selwood Group

Star recently performed for the annual Selwood Group event in Southampton and again proved itself to be one of the UK’s most popular dance and party bands – Sandie Brandon of Selwood waxed lyrical when she wrote to us after the event:

This was our first encounter with Star and they certainly shone brightly during our annual Dinner Dance.

Indeed, I thought Star was one of the best bands we have had in the last few years, their performance enhanced especially by their Swing Set during dinner, which was absolutely brilliant and gave the evening an intimate club atmosphere, despite it being held in a large room with less numbers than we usually have.

Nigel, the band leader, was especially friendly and introduced himself straight away to me on the night and his band were well dressed, on time, professional in their approach and played a very good range of music and had us dancing most of the evening.

I had lots of people come up and congratulate me on another good choice of a band. However, I replied that I always listen to Russ at CBS as he recommends them and he has not once let me down.

All in all, a wonderful shining success. Long may their Star shine!

Thanks to Fusion Disco

Fusion Disco – featuring our very own Kelli – provided the entertainment for Paul and Suzie’s wedding at The Hilton Avisford Park Hotel in March 2010 and we were very pleased to receive a note of thanks from the bride and groom which read as follows:

“Just a quick note to say a big thank you for providing our wedding reception disco. We had a wonderful time and we were really pleased to see all of our guests enjoying the music and having fun. Thank you for giving us the perfect ending to a truly special day.”

Those words say everything about what Fusion Disco and The CBS Group aim to achieve with the professional entertainment services we provide and we are most grateful to Paul and Suzie for taking the time to write them.

Star – Amazing!

Star performed at a wedding party for the Winograd family at The Carlton Tower hotel on March 14. We were very pleased to receive the following email from Roy Winograd:

Dear CBS Group,

This was my third Daughter’s Wedding and I can honestly say that Star were abolutely amazing.

They took on board the Bride and Groom’s particular songs and then they did their own special thing.
They made the function into a party and the dance floor was always full. This is a testament to a great band.

Nigel was a pleasure to deal with as were you. Many thanks to Star for making our Daughter’s wedding a fantastic party – the feedback from our guests was great.
