More about Weapons of Sound - The CBS Group

The Weapons of Sound formed in 1993 and has carved a unique and novel pathway for everyone who wants to feel the passion and energy of a musical performance.  By creating their own instruments there are no limits to what can be created sonically.  With the dawn of the new millenium, as the Earth’s resources are being lessened day by day, the Weapons of Sounds carry a clear message to the world that it is possible to create a pulsating, enjoyable, musical masterpiece without any environmental abuse whatsoever.  This sentiment is certainly a wide felt one as the band have traveled extensively and been commended for their ability to find levels and ingenuity in music, as well as being the foremost innovators of junk funk.

Weapons of sound have been fortunate to achieve an unrivalled national status.  Their numerous television appearances include Blue Peter, The Big Breakfast, Diggit, Live & Kicking, Barrymore and Richard & Judy.  The BBC have featured the band as an example of composing with percussion for the educational programme, Music File.  They also recorded a session on Radio One with Andy Kershaw, which was broadcast on air to the nation.

But where the Weapons of Sound is at its most dangerous is when it’s live and direct! The band has slammed through hundreds of live performances to many different countries and audiences worldwide.  One of their regular appearances is at The Glastonbury Festival where they have played for the last seven years and packed out a two thousand-seater midnight cabaret tent for every single performance. 1998 & 1999 were the most productive years for world domination where the band toured through Italy, Holland, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Israeli and Ireland. Underlining the ecological issues involved with Weapons of Sound, the band regularly supports key environmental festivals and events including the Earth-Wise conference.  There were also two legendary sets at the Surfers against Sewage summer ball, which proved to be a great success.

Weapons of Sounds loves to share its musical passion to as many people as possible.  As well as formidable performances they also offer workshops which give everyone from young children to people with learning difficulties, corporate business teams and private groups the opportunity to creatively express themselves in a fashion that is immediately accessible and immensely rewarding.  A recent example included creating a hugely successful and record breaking 400 player junk band for the Royal Shakespeare Company workshop.

So there you have the Weapons of Sound- the most explosive band to have unleashed a self made musical arsenal upon the world.  Remember waste is not waste if we use it.  The planet can not survive if we abuse it.  So pick it up again and reproduce it!!!
